With the Winter Season in full force, the City would like to take a moment and remind both residents and businessowners of their responsibility to keep sidewalks and walkways free and clear of snow for everyone’s safety.

Section 11-1 of the Municipal Code states “No person who is an owner or manager of any property, lessee leasing the entire premises or adult occupant of a single-family dwelling shall fail to keep all public sidewalks and walkways abutting the premises such perosn owns, leases or occupied clear of snow, ice, sleet and hail, as provided in this Section.  Such person shall remove any accumulation of snow, ice, sleet, hail, sand and mud as promptly as reasonably possible after accumulation and no later than 9:00 a.m. of the day following the accumulation.  Such person shall remove the accumulation of snow, ice, sleet, hail, sand and mud from the full width of all sidewalks and walkways, except those with a width exceeding five (5) feet, which must be cleared to a width of at least five (5) feet.  Person, for the purpose of this Article, may include a corporation, partnership, trust or other entity as well as a managing agent thereof.”  (Ord. 93-2 § 1, 1993)

Dear Residents:

The City wanted to take this opportunity to inform you that ALL properties are required to have a numbered street address placed on the property for emergency services.  Properties without numbered street addresses posted on the property risk potential delay in emergency services response times.  If you home does not have a visible numbered street address placed on the property, please have the street address posted as soon as possible.

 There are no permits required to install the numbered street address, just simply follow the criteria below:

•  Placement should be visible from the street, and at least five (5) feet from the property line.
• The street address numbers cannot exceed an area of 2 sq ft
• Luminescent or fluorescent colors are strictly prohibited

CITY MANAGER’S UPDATE

 2009 has been an exciting and challenging year for Central City. July saw the implementation of new gaming enhancements in many of our City’s casinos and the City hopes the enhancements will increase business in the coming months. Major water line breaks plagued the City a number of times throughout the year, and you, the City voters, rejected two ballot measures in November that would have changed publication requirements for official City notices and imposed a 5% Excise Tax on admissions.
