Come up in your best “Dandy Dan,” “Madame” or “Sporting House Girl” costume, and you’ll be eligible to win $50 for your category.  

 Need a primer on the cast of characters? Grab your bowler hat, pocket watch and three-piece suit for dapper Dandy Dan.  Don’t forget your feathers, peek-a-boo bustier and full skirt for the Sporting House Girl. And, let loose with the lace, satin and your best bustle for the Madame look.

CITY MANAGER’S UPDATE

 2009 has been an exciting and challenging year for Central City. July saw the implementation of new gaming enhancements in many of our City’s casinos and the City hopes the enhancements will increase business in the coming months. Major water line breaks plagued the City a number of times throughout the year, and you, the City voters, rejected two ballot measures in November that would have changed publication requirements for official City notices and imposed a 5% Excise Tax on admissions.  June 19^th – Madam Lou Bunch Day – The 36^th Annual Bed Race. It’s the rowdiest event in Colorado!

 June 26^th – Antique Jaguar’s on Main Street – Noon until 4:00 p.m. free and open to the public.

 July 3rd & 4^th – (Saturday/Sunday) Main Street event – Music, Food and Family Fun  

 July 17^th – Golden Cruisers event on Main Street – Vintage cars from the 50’s and 60’s, Noon until 4:00 p.m. Free and open to the public

July 31st - Gilpin County Film Festival at the Opera House

August 13th, 14th & 15th - Central City Jazz Festival (this event is pending)

August 28th - Autism Speaks Roddin’ the Rockies – Music, Food, Booths and Hot Rods and Motorcycles of all descriptions! On Main Street, FREE and open to the public
